at the Walt Disney World® Resort

The impact practice has on the level of a Group's performance is immeasurable. Disney Performing Arts Workshops are taught by professionals from the Walt Disney World® Resort. The 2 1/2 to 3 hour hands-on workshops add a touch of Disney Magic to your group's performance.



Band & Orchestra workshops:

Disney Performance Fundamentals
Explore the fundamentals of music in a fun and exciting way. By using unique Disney approaches, the clinician heightens the concepts of intonation, tone production, listening, and style - culminating in a "Disney Magical Moment" with a Special Guest Conductor.
Jazz It Up
Get a hands-on showcase of the essential components of jazz with style - Disney-style! Groups create their own special jazz arrangements CD of Disney songs in a studio recording setting, while examining improvisation, ensemble sound, jazz styles, and rhythm section concepts
You're Instrumental
Gain a better understanding of the demands placed on professional musicians through a mock studio recording experience. By studying musical empowerment, listening skills, sightseeing, and focusing techniques, your group's final recorded performance of a special Disney animated short will be a magical masterpiece.
Disney's Featured Performer Series
Learn the "ins and outs" of the music industry by rehearsing, and performing with a Walt Disney World® Entertainment soloist. You think perfomring for the World is exciting? Imagine doing it with a Disney soloist! Groups are selected based on their audition tape.



Choral Workshops:

Disney Sings
Experience the world of the professional vocalist! Groups learn vocal warm-ups, singing styles, enunciation, and breathing techniques all taught by a Walt Disney World singer. The pace then picks up with the rehearsal of a Disney Production number and a studio recording of a selected Disney animaed short.
Disney Sings - Young Performer Edition
Tailored to the younger performer (under 10 years old).
Experience the world of the professional vocalist! Groups learn vocal warm-ups, singing styles, enunciation, and breathing techniques all taught by a Walt Disney World singer. The pace then picks up with the rehearsal of a Disney Production number and a studio recording of a selected Disney animated short.
Disney's Show Choir Magic
Uncover the Disney secrets to becoming a "Triple Threat" - singer, dance and actor. Groups focus on vocal technique combines with stage choreography, and explore the properuse of microphones, projection of energy, movement, blocking and diction. All of the elements come together to creat a mock "Disney Show".

Disney Dancin'
Get a taste of life as a professional Disney dancer in a fun and upbeat atmosphere. After learning the importance of discipline, show presentation and movement, groups participate in a simulated audition and professional rehearsal. The grand finale is a magical "backstage" performance of a Disney Production number.
Disney Dancin' - Young Performers Edition
Tailored for dancers 10 years old and younger.
Get a taste of life as a professional Disney dancer in a fun and upbeat atmosphere. After learning the importance of discipline, show presentation and movement, groups participate in a simulated audition and professional rehearsal. The grand finale is a magical "backstage" performance of a Disney Production number.

Dance Technique: Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Tap
Learn a Disney production number, develop confidence and receive a valuable critique as you discover the importance of your individual contribution to the overall success of the ensemble. Designed for intermediate to advanced ensembles, these 90 minute workshops feature personalized instruction from some of the best choreographers in the world. Whether it is ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, or tap you choose the style for your group to concentrate on, and Disney takes it from there. Your choreographer will customize a course to your group's skill level and create rewarding challenges for all of its dancers.
Your group will discover what it's like to be a professional dancer as they dance, alone and with other, while rehearsing and performing a Disney Number; discuss performance concepts and fine-tune existing techniques; and learn tricks of the trade that make for show-stopping performances.
Disney Broadway Magic

Get an inside look at the fundamentals of musical theatre. Stage material from a Broadway production and learn vocal techniques as well as how to get the most out of your rehearsals and performances. Theatre group, drama clubs, dance studios, this is the workshop for you! Created in partnership with Disney on Broadway, this is a 2 1/2 hour session blends Disney magic with the glitz of live musical theatre. Students perform a number from a Broadway musical and learn about the elements required to bring one together, including music, staging and props.
A professional Disney will take your group through the same rehearsal process used for Disney Broadway musicals, during which they will:
* Emphasize the importance of a proper warm-up before any performance or rehearsal.
* Rehearse choreography by lyrics rather than by counts.
* Focus on breath control and diction integrated with movement.
* Learn how to make appropriate vocal/acting choices for a musical composition and its lyrics.
* Analyze what makes a musical difference from a play
* Examine how body language, facial expressions and vocal dynamics are key elements in defining story and character.
* Discover techniques for quickly learning and remembering movement and lyrics.
* Discuss the roles of director, music director, stage manager, technical crew and choreographer.
* Understand the purpose of blocking and staging and learn theatre-staging terminology.
To help prepare for the workshop, the music ans script will be pre-mailed.

Disney's Auxiliration (Flag Unit)

Your group will participate in a simulated production performance complete with tall flag, swing flag and show props. But first, students undergo a high-energy warm-up and learn valuable flag and movement basics before launching into a mock Disney audition, where they'll learn tips to improve their chances of success. The workshop culminates in an exhilarating performance of the Disney production number incorporating everything the students have learned.
During this intensive 2 1/2-3 hour workshop led by a Disney cast member active in the color guard movment, students will:
* Demonstrate correct body alignment and use of auxiliary equipment, emphasizing safety practices.
* Master nationally recognized movement and equipment basics.
* Learn routines that incorporate tall flags, swing flags, props and movement.
*Develop strength, flexibility and coordination in the performance of technical movements.
* Gain insight on what judges are looking for in a final performance or competition.
*Discover how versatility on several pieces of equipment can open the door to opportunity.

Theater / Acting Workshops:

Disney Performing Arts
Learn how to create characters, improvise and project professionalism on stage using proven performance techniques that will boost the confidene of any actor.
Designed for all levels of actors, this 90-minute workshop provides students with the building blocks of theatre, while exploring performance and storytelling techniques. Led by an industry show director or improvisational actor, the course focuses on tapping into the artist's unique voice, thereby discovering the tools to develop performance abilities. Students also learn to build character, develop improvisational skills, and maintain professionalism on the stage.
Your group will engage in interactive discussions and acting exercises as they:
* Master the building blocks of basic thetre, performance and storytelling techniques.
* Use scene study as a vehicle for intruducing and building character.
*Practive improvisational skills while discovering how to maintain professionalism on stage.

Disney Broadway Magic

Techniques of Teamwork through Improvisation
Band together as a creative ensemble, practice improvisation and team-building techniques, and use your newfound knowledge to stage your own performance!
In this three hour program at Epcot®, students in grades 6-12 gain insights into how improvisational theories can be applied to real-life situations at home, school or in future careers. Every student plays a role in a mock production and they are taught professional communication techniques that, with practice, help build confidence, unleash creativity and cultivate teamwork.

Backstage at La Nouba™ by Cirque du Soleil®

Get an inside look at the international phenonmenon that is Cirque du Soleil® as you go backstage at La Nouba™ and learn what it takes to bring this dazling spectacle to the stage.
Go backstage at La Nouba™ by Cirque du Soleil® to uncover the artistry, training, preparation and support systems required to produce more than 470 shows a year. During this behind-the-scenes tour of the theater including the stage, training facilities, costuming and props areas, students will realize the importance of communication, teamwork, practice and dedication to fulfilling their goals. During this 2-hour program, grade 6-12 students see how dance, music, theater, visual arts and technology meld into one breathtaking performance.
During the interactive field study, students will:
* Examine the connections between the various art forms and other disciplines.
* Discuss dance as a way of creating and communicating meaning.
* Explore the relationship between music, history and culture and the context in which theatre, film, television and electronic media are performed today as well as in the past.
* Gain an understanding of the wealth of skill, knowledge and diversity that goes into creating such a dynamic performance.
* Contrast traditional circus entertainment with the Cirque du Soleil® experience.
* Understand and apply media, techniques and processes related to the visual arts.
